How does the Torqeedo Travel compare to a combustion engine?
The Torqeedo Travel electric outboard motor is roughly equivalent to a 3 horsepower (HP) gasoline outboard engine in terms of thrust and performance.
While electric motors and gas engines differ in how they deliver power (electric motors provide instant torque and smoother power curves), the Travels 1,100W output provides comparable thrust to a traditional 3 HP gas motor, especially for small boats, dinghies, kayaks, or as a lightweight tender motor.
It's best suited for calm water conditions and light loads, where efficiency and quiet operation are key.
